    Job Description

    DLZ currently has a Field Leak Detection Technician opening in the Detroit, MI area.

    • Perform all phases of field assignment related to leak detection in water pipes for Detroit Water and Sewerage Department.
    • Responsible for all aspects of field observation, testing, and testing coordination of assigned project.
    • Obtain accurate record field data, logs in organized fashion utilizing tablets for data storage; as required by the specifications, or project staff.  Generate and compile field reports.
    • Perform calculations as required.
    • Maintain vehicle and equipment as required.
    • Work with Program and DWSD staff.
    • Communicate with all entities keeping everyone fully informed.
    • Understand the public health and safety requirements and be fully trained in the proper safety procedures.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.


    • Associates Degree (in applicable field), or
      • High School Graduate or equivalent, plus 8 years related experience.
    • Strong computer skills required for document creation and record-keeping.
    • Experience with municipal inspection preferred.
    • Inspection of water main systems preferred.
    • Possess good hearing for the use of software for leak detection.
